Motorcycle Tyres buying guide
A motorcycle tyre's size is printed on its sidewall as a code like 120/70 ZR17 (58W): the width in millimetres, the aspect ratio (sidewall height as a percentage of width), the rim diameter in inches, and a load index plus speed rating. Always replace a tyre with one that matches your bike's specified size, or the exact equivalent your manufacturer approves.
Road tyres are tuned for grip and mileage on tarmac; adventure and commuter tyres add durability and all-weather performance; race tyres prioritise outright grip over longevity; classic tyres use an older inch-based sizing (no aspect-ratio figure) for older and vintage machines. Scooter and MX/off-road tyres use their own sizing conventions again. MotoMiser compares live prices on tyres across UK retailers by exact size and type so you can find the right fit for less.
